- 1883. Council established a Volunteer Fire Brigade and open a new single bay fire station in Grove Road, opposite Ivy Terrace with sub stations in Cavendish Place; Meads; Old Town and Hampden Park. [Watts Lane is in Upperton, so possibly not 'Old Town' or 'Hampden Park']
